an All-Japan voluntary organization committed to realizing
a carbon-neutral sky through the development of a domestic supply chain
and the promotion of Sustainable Aviation Fuel
(SAF).

Global warming is said to be the cause of recent abnormal weather.
There are concerns about the impact on health, natural disasters, agriculture and fisheries, such as heat stroke. This is why it is attracting worldwide attention,
Greenhouse gas emissions are being reduced to zero as a whole.
Carbon neutrality is the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero as a whole. Japan has declared itself "carbon neutral by 2050" and formulated the Green Growth Strategy.
Through the SAF, which is also mentioned in the strategy,
ACT FOR SKY is committed to decarbonization.

The trump card for carbon neutrality,
to promote and expand the use of domestically produced SAF.

Until now, it has been said that reducing CO2 emissions in the aviation sector would be difficult, but a drastic initiative to achieve carbon neutrality in the skies is finally underway.

One such initiative is the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
ACT FOR SKY will promote the commercialization, dissemination, and expansion of domestically produced SAF.

WHAT'S SAF?

What is SAF?

SAF stands for Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
It is an aviation fuel made from non-fossil derived materials,
emissions can be significantly reduced compared to conventional fossil-based fuels.
Another feature of SAF is that existing aircraft, refueling facilities, and other infrastructure can be used without modification.

SAF's contribution to the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 is high,
It is expected to be the trump card for decarbonization in the aviation sector,
The development of technologies to convert various raw materials into SAF is being pursued with great enthusiasm.

Until now, aviation fuel has been manufactured from petroleum, which emits CO₂ in the
manufacturing cycle.
SAF also emits CO2 when used in aircraft.
For example, if the raw material is derived from plants,
the emitted CO2 is absorbed by the plants through photosynthesis, and
the plants become the raw material for SAF again.
Therefore, CO2 emissions can be reduced throughout the entire production cycle.
