ANA was the first in Asia to incorporate SAF on a commercial scale. In addition, ANA launched Asia's first SAF Flight Initiative and is working together with customers to expand the market.
In October 2021, ANA, together with Toshiba Energy Systems Corporation, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Toshiba Corporation, Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd. and Japan CCS Research Co., Ltd. began studying a domestic business model for carbon recycling (adopted as a Ministry of the Environment project), in which SAF is produced from CO2 separated and recovered from the exhaust gas of industrial facilities.
The global supply of SAF is extremely small, and there are many issues to be addressed, including the establishment of a supply chain that encompasses domestic production and flight supply.
