Green Earth Institute, Inc.
Established in September 2011, our mission is to "nurture green technology and walk with the earth," and we aim to be a platform for the "biorefinery" field, which utilizes the power of microorganisms to produce chemical products from biomass. In particular, we are commercializing technologies in Japan and overseas to produce various green chemicals such as bio-jet fuel and bioplastic materials from inedible biomass that does not compete with food and feedstuffs.
On February 4, 2021, we produced bio-jet fuel from isobutanol made from used clothing collected from the general public, and made Japan's first domestic bio-jet fuel flight on a Japan Airlines flight from Haneda to Fukuoka. The first domestic bio-jet fuel flight in Japan was made by Japan Airlines Co. Currently, we are working diligently with other companies to play a part in the establishment of a supply chain for domestic SAF production, aiming to realize commercial production of domestic bioethanol for SAF, which is made from woody biomass and can be supplied stably.
