ITOCHU Corporation
ITOCHU Corporation was founded in 1858 by Chubei Itoh I as a linen peddler. Today, it is a major general trading company with approximately 100 bases in 62 countries around the world, and is engaged in domestic, import, export, and trilateral transactions in the textile, machinery, metals, energy, chemicals, food, housing, information, and finance sectors, We are also engaged in a wide range of businesses, including business investments in Japan and overseas.
ITOCHU has achieved the first domestic delivery of SAF for scheduled flights in 2020, as well as the establishment of a supply chain for SAF from Neste, the world's largest SAF manufacturer, to procurement, domestic transportation, and refueling of aircraft at airports.
For the realization of medium- to long-term utilization of SAF, we are considering projects to produce domestically produced SAF in addition to imported SAF from Neste from the viewpoint of SAF supply stability, including the expansion of domestic logistics functions. We are conducting a demonstration project for domestically produced SAF production using woody biomass as feedstock.
