We are focusing on "hydrogen bacteria" and "utilization of unused forest resources" to expand SAF production and dissemination.
Hydrogen bacteria are being jointly studied with partners for the production of isobutanol, a raw material for SAF, by utilizing its biological functions. This technology enables the production of SAF that is compatible with global environmental preservation, since it does not rely on food or biomass resources, but instead uses hydrogen and CO2 as raw materials.
In addition to SAF production, the utilization of unused forest resources is also expected to contribute to domestic reforestation and the local production for local consumption economy. We aim to establish an integrated supply chain from the collection of unused resources to the decomposition of woody biomass and the production of bio-products (fuels such as SAF and raw materials for plastics) using oil refineries.
